4 Wonderful Ways to drown in Design Inspiration

Hello there !

How are you doing?!

I have news ! Β it looks like we (both Olie and I) are moving into a beautiful new home. I am so excited, and I find myself wasting glorious amounts of time pouring through design inspiration for the new home. Of course, I want to get a new look for the space - something fresh, bright -with tons of white and lots of foliage. And of course, I want our newest, brightest lights and cushions ( I cannot wait to show you what's in the pipeline - they are my new favourites! ) all across.

So here areΒ 4 of my go-to blogs for daily design inspiration. I think you will enjoy wasting glorious many hours browsing through these too.

1. The Style Files : http://style-files.com/

The Style Files is Danielle De Lange's absolutely beautiful blog. The images she finds are beautiful and fresh and I never cease to be inspired by her feed. This all white bedroom looks so peaceful. I may add a pop of blue, but it definitely makes it to my moodboard for the new home !

2. An Indian Summer -Β  http://www.anindiansummer.in/

An Indian Summer is Bhavna's brainchild. I once wrote her and asked her how she finds so many beautiful pictures, and she simply wrote back saying nothing pretty escapes her eye ! And it's true. Hers is one of my favourite blogs that merge everything Indian in dΓ©cor with the contemporary. I continue to crush on everything floral, it has a fresh yet vintage feel to it that will always remain a classic.

Once Upon A Tea Time : http://www.onceuponateatime.com/

Priya is a blogger whose blog isn't only a mine of 'great finds' (she unearths and introduces the most divine new accessories in the dΓ©cor world including Olie!) But also is a wonderful space to spend hours browsing. I think that though Priya doesn't live in India - she has introduced me to the most number of talented Indian makers than any other blog.

4. TrumatterΒ : http://trumatter.in/

Β I discovered Rukmini's blog very recently, and was very taken in by the freshness of every image ( you must be familiar by now with my great love for all things white! ). This particular blog post (the one where this picture is from)Β talks about how you can grow bougainvillea in your apartment - that's just what I always needed to know. Since we left Pondicherry, I have always wanted to bring the Pondi vibe back by planting a little bougainvillea in my balcony - and Rukmini tells you how !

There are many, too many blogs that are incredible out there - if you know of any you think I should check out, do leave a comment below and I would be happy to ! It's the Ganesha festival here in Karnataka, and everyone's already caught on to the holiday spirit - have a great festival folks, and a wonderful week !

That Simple Love.

" Do you know what elegance is? It is not only what you're wearing, it is how you wear it, who you are inside. It is the way you decorate your house, what you surround yourself with, what books you read, and what your interests are "Β  -Caroline Herrera

Β

A sense of fashion or style, whether for clothing or for dΓ©cor in one's home is personal in a way that allows an observer a glimpse into your personality itself. I am a deep admirer of classic, minimal styles - which leave room for easy change and a certain lightness that never allows for boredom to set in.

And then, I believe in accessorizing. Go crazy with some bright cushions that you canΒ change around in a whiff and add so much character to a room (don't forget to play with shapes and sizes) and bring in some gorgeousΒ lighting to set the mood. Beautiful lighting is something you need, don't underestimate it's sheer power. Tone down the walls, the colours on yourΒ couches andΒ furniture - and voila!Β You have aΒ home that is effortlessly elegant, and warm at the same time.

Here is some eye candy. Spaces that have that happy mix of colour, brightness and timeless elegance that we keep falling in love with !

Feel free to daydream a little, and smile in a silly fashion as you go through these. Lots of love x

Luxury of the Local

Β

Hello there, my world !

Since I've got this great new way to talk to you, I've decided that today - I would like to touch upon a topic that's been on my mind for months.

How to turn our constant need for beautiful things, our love for shopping into something that benefits our community, keeps our carbon footprint within that delicate line, and at the same time - remains an experience that one can only associate with true luxury. Shop Local.

With the words 'hand-made' and 'hand-crafted' being tossed around everywhere these days. I fear that in one of the few countries where the 'hand-made'Β  still exists, and the tradition is somehow being kept alive .. we are forgetting what it truly means.

When we craft a cushion or a lamp or even a little box at Olie, the process is what heartens us. The exchange of smiles, and happy banter as the fabrics come into our studio. Sitting with our talented artisans as we share our ideas and plans with them. They almost always contribute directly to the design of the product, with details thatΒ are added by hand, painstakingly and with love.

Every time an order comes in, everyone is excited. The pride with which the whole family sits down to craft the most beautiful accessories they have ever crafted before is one that always moves me deeply. To haveΒ our dream shared by these incredible people who then turn it into aΒ reality.

And then of course, comes each tag that has been designed individually for each printed collection, the little hand-written notes that go into each package that is packed for an order. And finally the joy of having a customer come back to us with a sweetly worded letter that completes the cycle of the carecrafted.

With the product being made entirely by hand, we use less electricity, andΒ therefore makes our impact on the environment that much smaller.Β The luxury of having so many hands from our little towns and villages breathing life and adding soul toΒ every lamp or cushion cover that sits proudly in your homeΒ is one that cannot be added up. It isΒ aΒ sense of history that is attached, a labour of love andΒ luxury in it's purest form.

It's a lovely way to do your bit. Shop Local. You will leave richer for the experience.
much love x
